International criticism of Órban

PARIS (div) -- Members of the European Parliament clashed last week over the new law restricting foreign universities in Hungary. Frank Engel, MEP from Luxembourg, even called on the Hungarians to quit the group and the EU altogether. Even former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan expressed his concern about the law in a letter to CEU rector Michael Ignatieff. The law has been protested by Nobel Laureates, academics from Europe and the United States and several organisations.
